Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch

In 1843, William Matheson founded the Glenmorangie Distillery in the Scottish Highlands. Inspired by the Distillery’s peaceful surroundings on the banks of the Dornoch Firth, he created a pioneering single malt whisky; complex and exceptionally smooth.

Distilled in Scotland’s tallest stills, and perfected by the 24 people who guard and honor Glenmorangie's secret and time honored methods, the house style is pure and smooth.

Come taste their secrets for yourself, this Saturday, from 1-3.

Glenmorangie 10 Year Single Malt Scotch, $36.50

This is light, with notes of stone fruit with nuts and honey. Smoke and peat makes themselves known at the finish along with honey, and a rich smooth finish.

Glenmorangie 12 Year Nectar D'or Single Malt Scotch, $74.50

Finished in Sauternes casks you will get notes of honeycomb, raisins, apple pie, and chocolate balanced by island fruits. The Sauternes cask adds viscosity. The sweetness is not overwhelming and does not dominate the other flavors. A great sipper.

Glenmorangie 12 Year Quinta Ruban Single Malt Scotch, $56.50

Finished in port casks. Like the Nectar D’or, this expression adds lushness, body, and a sweet complexity (but with darker fruit and spice than the Nectar D’or) while still allowing Glenmorangie’s complexity to shine through.

Glenmorangie Bacalta Madeira Cask Single Malt Scotch, $106.50

In 1995, Glenmorangie released the world's first single malt whisky extra-matured in Madeira casks. Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Whisky Creation and Distilling, has long held an ambition to revisit this extra-maturation. Bespoke casks were created to exacting specifications, long-seasoned with Malmsey, the sweetest, loveliest and most prized of all Madeira Wines, and baked in the sun while the intriguing wine slowly sweetened within.

On  the nose the overall sensation is sweet: there are inviting aromas of ripe apricots, then mineral notes followed by white chocolate. A little water brings out an aged-Balsamic tone, malty biscuits even. Its taste initially suggest mint toffee, then come baked fruits, honeycomb, almonds and dates. There is marzipan, white pepper and juicy honeydew melon. The finish is of rich syrup, caramelized citrus and pear, creamy fudge too, with a subtly appealing menthol sensation in the background.

The eighth release from the Private Edition collection.
