The Salty Mary

Here's a refreshing, wintry spin on a vodka tonic. It utilizes easy-to-find ingredients, but has just enough flourish that it feels special—which for us, classifies it as a genius cocktail. Joe advises that both supermarket and high-end varieties of grapefruit soda work well.

Rosemary salt*
Lime wedges
2 parts vodka
2 to 3 parts tonic water
2 to 3 parts grapefruit soda
Optional garnishes: Rosemary sprig and lime wedge

Moisten the rim of a highball glass with a lime wedge, then dip an edge into the rosemary salt. Fill with ice. Add vodka, tonic, and grapefruit soda . Stir to combine, then garnish as desired.

*To make rosemary salt: Combine 3 parts kosher salt with 1 part minced fresh rosemary.
