Destillare Intense Chocolat Liqueur
For this rich and decadent liqueur, Louisville's Copper and Kings takes their bourbon barrel aged grape brandy and infuses it with Caribbean cacao nibs and honey right in the barrel. After a short time of additional aging in barrel, it is proofed down with reverse osmosis distilled water steeped with cacao nibs and given another honey infusion. The result is a nose of intense dark chocolate, with luscious toffee, very light coffee and vanilla aromas, along with hints of tropical florals. The palate isn't overly syrupy, but rather lightly viscous and earthy. Very nicely balanced with sweetness from the honey with a faint natural dark chocolate bitterness on the back-end. Deliciously complex with barrel aged brandy smoothness. The finish is dark chocolate all day long – from the tip of the tongue through the mid-palate and down the back of the throat. Luscious and rich, velvety and silky. Bottled at 45% abv.
