Michel Huard 2004 Vintage 14 Year Calvados
From the largest Calvados appellation, simply called AOC Calvados, with crus spread all over Normandy, and spirits column-distilled a single time and generally made with only apples. The Huard property contains nearly 1,800 trees on 37 acres. The soil is loamy, composed of an ideal combination of silt and clay. About 30 varieties of apples are grown on the property, predominantly from the sweet and bittersweet categories.
This 2004 vintage was aged for 14 years and shows notes of bright green apple, vanilla, slightly musty oak, and honey, with a soft dusting of almond, clove, and a long and fruity finish. Bottled at 40% abv.
