5 Sentidos Coyote Mezcal

Sold out

5 Sentidos is named after the five senses that their mezcaleros use to produce their agave spirits. The producers of this mezcal do not use any model machinery or tools, being guided only by their senses throughout the production process. The brand was launched by El Destilado restaurant in centro Oaxaca. The restaurant is known for it's creative menu, unique cocktails, and exceptional selection of agave spirits. The brand is a curated tour of Mexico with a wide range of expressions that are made by some of the best mezcaleros in the region. Cinco Sentidos is uncertified mezcal and is labeled as "Destilado de Agave".

Mezcalero Eduardo Cortez Perez is the son of Tio Tello and this batch of Coyote was distilled in 2020 at their family's palenque in El Nanche, Miahuatlan. The unusual Coyote agave is thought to be a hybrid of Agave Karwinskii (cuishe, madrecuishe, etc.) and Agave Potatorum (Tobala). This rarity is not to be confused with the larger Agave Americana called Coyote in other parts of Oaxaca. An extremely limited batch and Lalo's first export batch, he's used traditional underground ovens and the agave is milled by hand using machete and wooden hammers. It's fermented in cypress vats and distilled twice on tiny copper pots. Current batch is bottled at 46.57% abv.
