Bulleit 10 Year B&B Private Barrel Bourbon

4 reviews
After years spent watching other beloved whiskey brands build out their private barrel programs to cult status - Bulleit has finally decided to get in on the action. It’s not quite a pearl-clutching moment to learn that Bulleit has sourced their bourbon, primarily from a distillery known for 2 mash bills and 5 yeast strains - one you could say we have a rosy disposition for. We can’t say more than that - but if you want to follow the clues, give 10 bourbon recipes a google.

This 10 Year single barrel bourbon is from a higher rye mash bill, bottled non-chill filtered at a perfect 52% sipping proof. The yeast strain is described as yielding a “rich fruit basket.” And there’s a basket of flavors here that would make any Kentucky heart skip a beat: rye spice, cornbread, and cherry cola. The sipping experience is rewardingly complex - at first dominated by the drier rye spice rush, subsequent sips open the gates to a juicy waterfall of nectarine, plum, and apple. All awash with cherry cola notes that gradually turn a bit more herbal, like a country store soda pop. The herbal notes continue to sprout on the finish, sealed up with a responsible dose of drying oak woodiness. The bookending of the drier notes with the lush, sweet center is the hot-summer-lake-dip of a bourbon we can’t get enough of.
