High Plains Rye Whiskey
From Jim Rutledge, former master distiller at Four Roses, comes this Rye blend, his latest sourcing and blending project after the smashing success of Cream of Kentucky Bourbon. Made from rye whiskies distilled by Kentucky Artisan Distillery (of Jefferson's fame), Ohio's Middle West Distillery, Indiana's MGP, and New York Distilling Co., this is a real rye drinker's rye. All the ryes are at least 4 years old and with mashbills made up of as low as 51% rye, all the way up to 100% rye.
On the nose you'll find fresh baked rye bread with caraway, black pepper, dill, apricot, and a wisp of roasted chocolate. The palate is spicy, with dried herbs, toffee, green tea, citrus, and stone fruits, followed by black pepper, cinnamon, and oak on the finish. Bottled at 48.5% abv.
