Calle 23 Limited Edition Criollo Blanco Tequila
This special release Blanco is made from Criollo Blue Weber Agave, which are much smaller than their standard cousin and have a higher concentration of sugars. It's also bottled at 49.3% abv, significantly higher than the standard 40%, lendng more concentration of flavor and a velvety mouthfeel. Made to celebrate the birth of the founder Sophie Decobecq's first child, it was distilled at Tequila Quiote - NOM 1433 in San Francisco de Asis, in the Los Altos region of Jalisco.
Opens on vegetal notes, with mint, black pepper, jasmine, cinnamon, and orange peel not far behind. On the palate, more mint, white pepper, floral elements, and a brininess are all carried by a lovely gentle fruity sweetness that elevates this beyond your typical blanco. And the finish goes so much longer thanks to the higher proof, with coffee and more pepper leaving an oily feel on your tongue that lasts for ages.
