A ten year old rum (bottled in 2015) from Guyana, distilled on the legendary Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and aged in ex-bourbon barrels partially in its home country, but primarily in the UK. As with all of Mezan's rums, it is bottled without any added sugar, flavoring, or color at 40% abv. The nose prominently features the Port Mourant signature aniseed, alongside overripe banana and wood spice. On the palate there is more aniseed, in it's licorice-y candied form, light vanilla, and a salty savoriness, evolving into a hint of smoke. Finish isn't huge, as might be expected of a 40% abv spirit, but pleasant and lightly sweet.
