Appleton Hearts is Appleton like you've never seen, smelled or tasted. With Jamaica beloved by rum aficionados as the home of big, bold, funky pot still rums, but Appleton's blended style perhaps the most visible to the general drinking public, there has long been a longing from many rummies to taste Appleton's pure pot still character. Now, in collaboration with Velier, Appleton has for the first time bottled rums made solely on their pot stills, rather than a blend of pot and column still rums, as all their regular releases are. They are all aged tropically at the estate in Jamaica, and are bottled uncut at cask strength without any additives.

To create the Hearts Collection, Appleton's Master Blender, Dr. Joy Spence, pulled just 10 casks from the nearly 200,000 currently aging at the estate (which happens to be one of the largest and oldest inventories of aged rum anywhere). From those casks, Spence and Velier's Luca Gargano agreed on three casks that they thought were the most suited to this project, and the rest is now rum history.

The 1994 is big and bold but easy to love. On the nose, there is brown sugar, orange peel, dusty spicy oak, espresso, and mint, alongside a hint of cedar and tobacco. The palate big on the oak, but it doesn't completely dominate or bitter the profile. Vanilla, tobacco, black pepper, and a hint of petrol for good brooding measure. Bottled at 60% abv.
