Daviess County Cabernet Cask Bourbon
Daviess County Distilling Company, with heritage dating back to 1874, was once a prominent distillery in Daviess County, which boasts a long history of distilled spirits and iconic distilleries that helped Kentucky earn its reputation as the home of great bourbons. Though it managed to survive Prohibition intact, it never quite made it to the modern whiskey boom, being shuttered in 1992, laying dormant until recently, after being revived as a new brand by Lux Row Distillers.
A combination of two bourbon mashbills - a wheated and a ryed - and finished for six months in Napa Valley cabernet barrels for an unforgettable layer of complexity. Aromas of honey, vanilla, and caramel. On the palate a careful balance of juicy red fruit and spicy tannic oak, and incredibly silky lush texture from the barrel finish. Ends long and warm, with a hint of spice. Bottled at 96 proof. From the folks behind the Blood Oath series.
