Death's Door Gin
Death's Door Spirits' name is inspired by the Death's Door passageway between Washington Island and the Door County peninsula. (Michigan gets credit for being mitten-shaped, but Wisconsinites also point to their hand to show you where they live, and we're talking about islands off the "thumb" of Wisconsin.) Death's Door Spirits is so committed to local ingredients that they sponsor an annual juniper harvest on Washington Island. Does that make this bottle full of the northernmost U.S. juniper berries you've encountered? Maybe!
Death's Door Gin doesn't want to be the fanciest gin in your home bar. They proudly identify themselves as a utility gin. Sip it, blend it, shake it up, dirty it up in a martini - utility has rarely been so tasty.
This London Dry-style gin offers a focused botanical mix of juniper, coriander, and fennel, with a base distilled from organic wheat, corn and barley for the right combination of mouthfeel and sweetness. It boasts loaded juniper up front; spicy, citrusy notes in the mid-palate; and a soft, cooling finish provided by the fennel seeds.
