Death's Door is one of the old guard of the craft spirits community at this point, having opened in Washington Island, Wisconsin in 2006. At the time, the idea of craft vodka was a lot more foreign than it is today, with most vodka available then simply mass produced ethanol sold in bulk with various labels slapped on it. Death's Door wanted to make a vodka that was the antithesis of that, and they made theirs with 100% winter wheat grown on Washington Island. The result, distilled in their hybrid pot/column still, has a lovely velvety texture and hints of sweet cereal grain. Vodka should be pretty neutral, but it doesn't have to be boring. Bottled at 40% abv.
