Dorothy Arzner Straight Rye Whiskey
In honor of this free-spirited and independent woman, GWS has crafted a 3-year-old straight rye whiskey. 'Grain to glass' in Sonoma County, this straight rye whiskey was aged for three years in 53 gallon new char oak barrels. The mash bill is “high rye” meaning that it has a higher than average rye percentage which results in a final spirit that is bold, spicy and robust in flavor. Made from 70% rye berry/rye malt blend and 30% malted barley blend (caramel and Munich malts), the whiskey is distilled twice on a hybrid still before being aged in an un-insulated warehouse to allow for more natural aging conditions. Non-chill filtered, proofed with pristine Napa Valley spring water.
Dark chocolate aromas, with dried cherry, fresh-baked dark rye bread, leather and vanilla lift, toasted walnut. On the palate dark blackberry and dried cherry fruitiness, warm roasted oak tones, rich dark chocolate caramel, fresh cracked black pepper, rye spice and brioche bread.
