A simple variation on a Last Word, every bartender’s favorite vintage cocktail to riff on, the Final Ward comes from Phil Ward (hence the name) of New York’s Death & Co. It keeps the Green Chartreuse and Maraschino Liqueur of the original cocktail, substituting Rye Whiskey for Gin and lemon for lime juice. Consider it the weightier, rounder, after dinner little brother of the Last Word. And after considering it once, you’ll probably be tempted to consider it again.
