George Dickel 2022 Release 13 Year Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whiskey
The Dickel Bottled in Bond annual release has consistently been a highlight of the year for whiskey hounds. For a brand that got little attention previously, the initial 2019 release marked a serious change of pace under new master distiller and general manager Nicole Austin. It was fantastically complex, lush and full at 50% abv, well aged at 13 years, and offered at a stunning value. In a time in which limited release whiskey is impossibly expensive, even if you can get your hands on it in the first place, Dickel's approach is as refreshing as a glass of sweet tea on a hot Tennessee afternoon. This 13 year old release, the fourth in the series, marks the second to come from the Fall of 2008, after the 2020 11 year bottling.
It has an inviting nose of bright fresh cherry, cedar, and almond with a structured oak finish. With a sweet and hot palate of caramel, the maturity of this whisky gives a lasting finish. Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks, but also plays well in many classic cocktails like a Perfect Manhattan.
