One day, just for fun, High West put some rye whiskey into barrels originally used to age wine. When they mixed the ‘vermouth-ed’ and the ‘syrah-ed’ they discovered an all-natural, not disgustingly sweet whiskey for the rest of us. While the ratio of whiskeys is top secret, it is a blend of straight whiskeys from MGP, Barton, and the High West Distillery, bottled at 46% ABV, aged up to 16 years, and bottled non chill-filtered.
Nose: Cinnamon stick, dried apricot, dark chocolate with cherry cordial, dried sage, brown sugar, toasted nut brittle. Taste: Bright cinnamon spice, vanilla, star anise, cherry cobbler, dried herbs, undertones of cedar wood. Finish: Spiced red berry jam, black licorice, and muddled spearmint.
