Mars The Lucky Cat "Choco" Japanese Whisky
This is the 6th edition of the Mars “Lucky Cat” series, a collection of limited-edition, blended Japanese whiskies, each inspired by a different distillery cat belonging to the Hombo family, the proprietors of the Mars Shinshu distillery. Sweet baby boy Choco is the brother of Hana, the previous release's star kitty, and is proud to give this blended gem his paw-stamp of approval. The whiskies have been meow-tured in new American white oak, ex-bourbon barrels, and ex-sherry barrels, before being married together in ex-port casks.
The tasting notes, per Choco, are as follows: Whisker-tingling notes of maple syrup and toasted grains on the nose, followed by a big malty, sweet barley sugar character on the palate, with light tannin, juicy red berry fruit from the port casks, and a chocolatey finish (Choco's favorite). Like a gentle chin scratch and belly rub after a long day of napping amongst the barrels. Bottled at 40% abv.
