Method and Madness is the experimental microdistillery located at Midleton Distillery where Irish whiskey brands like Jameson and Redbreast among many others are produced. This Single Malt was initially laid down in ex-bourbon barrels in 2002 and aged in them for 14 years, in a first for the distillery, it was then finished for a year in French Limousin oak casks, a variety most commonly used to age cognac. Bottled at 92 proof, naturally colored and non-chill filtered.
On the nose, floral and sweet, with notes of toasted malt, vanilla notes with a touch of cinnamon and nuts. Finally, a gentle scent of oak and hints of spices. The palate is medium-bodied and initially sweet, with notes of vanilla and cinnamon rolls. Followed by a soft spicier touch, fruity apricot notes balanced with a gentle touch of nuts. The lengthy finish concludes with toasted barley notes and hints of bakery pastries.
