Plantation Peru 2010 Pineau des Charentes Single Cask Rum
This pot and column blended rum was aged in its home in Peru for seven years in ex-bourbon casks, before being purchased by Maison Ferrand and transported to France, where it aged a further year in Cognac casks. Being part of Plantation single cask collection, it is then subject to tertiary aging in barrels that previously held Pineau Des Charentes. The rum was bottled at 43.6% abv, with 8 grams per liter of added sugar, or dosage.
On the nose, sultanas and oak then molasses and orange. Next, a smoky profile with tropical fruits, dried banana, pineapple and kiwi. The palate is rich and woody with a spicy cloves and ginger and fruity, buttery notes of peach pie. A hint of refreshing peppermint.
