Ten To One Reserve 17 Year Trinidad Rum
Ten To One is a range of Caribbean rums from Marc Farrell, born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, who was inspired to provide consumers with a window into a more contemporary view of the Caribbean and its celebratory culture. The range includes a white rum as well as a dark rum, both of which contain no added sugar, flavorings or colors. With this release, they are beginning to delve into special, single origin bottlings as well, bottled with the same dedication to unadulterated spirit, celebrated in it's natural beauty.
Specifically, the first Ten To One Reserve is drawn from a mere four casks of 17-year-old Trinidadian rum, aged exclusively in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 43% abv. This rum hails from Trinidad Distillers Limited, who may be better known to many under their brand name, Angostura. While rums from the House of Angostura are easy to find in most parts of the world, a 17 year old bottling certainly isn't, and shows a maturity to their familiar style that is most appealing. The aroma is deep with papaya aromas up front, followed by leather and cigar humidor. The palate is full-bodied and rich with notes of exotic fruits, including papaya and passion fruit, followed by apricot, plantain, and a hint of ginger root spice. The finish is long, smooth, and lightly sweet.
