Wright & Brown #525 Single Barrel Bourbon

$94.50
This single barrel is the cask strength version of Wright & Brown’s flagship bourbon. A high-rye bourbon distilled from a 65% corn, 23% rye, 12% malted barley mash bill. Its 3 years of aging were spent in a 30 gallon barrel, resulting in a significantly more mature presence than the age statement suggests. We chose this one for the beautiful, deep cherry character that’s usually less prevalent in the blended release. On the nose, this bourbon wafts with cherry, dark cocoa, and fresh baked bread. As it opens subtle notes of forest floor, tart berries and hints of leather. On the palate, the cherry notes really let loose, coming in all form from fresh fruit to tart cherry cobbler to cherry candy. After the first wave of cherry notes, a delectable mélange of sweet and herbal flavors take over. Graham crackers, toffee, fresh risen pizza crust and dark rye bread form the background for brighter flavors of mango, pine, and parsley, with hints of over steeped tea. There is a tingly spice through out the sip, and the ever-recurring cherry compote. The finish is dry, lingering on savory herbs, and a warm oak. Bottled at 116 proof.
