SHIPPING POLICY

Order Processing
Processing Time. Orders are typically processed within 1-3 business days after payment approval and compliance verification. Processing times may be longer during peak seasons or promotional periods.
Compliance Review. All orders are subject to compliance review before shipment. We reserve the right to cancel any order that does not meet legal requirements. You will receive an order confirmation email and a shipping confirmation with tracking information when your order ships.
Shipping and Delivery
Carrier Selection. We ship via licensed carriers authorized to deliver alcoholic beverages. We select the carrier and shipping method for your order.
Delivery Timeframes. Estimated delivery times provided at checkout are approximate and may vary based on carrier performance, weather, and other factors beyond our control.
Adult Signature Required. All deliveries require an adult signature (21+ years of age) with valid government-issued photo identification. Someone 21 or older must be present to accept delivery.
Delivery Attempts. Carriers typically make multiple delivery attempts. If delivery cannot be completed after all attempts, the package may be returned to us or held at a carrier facility, subject to the fees outlined below.
Shipping Address Requirements
Accuracy is Critical. You are responsible for providing complete and accurate shipping information, including correct street address, apartment/suite numbers, city, state, ZIP code, and contact phone number. Please verify your address carefully before submitting your order.
Address-Related Fees. You will be charged for any additional carrier fees resulting from:
- Incorrect, incomplete, or inaccurate address information
- Requests to redirect a shipment to a different address
- Requests to hold a package at a carrier facility
- Additional delivery attempts due to address issues
- Re-delivery fees assessed by the carrier
These fees will be charged to your original payment method or invoiced separately.
Order Cancellations
Cancellation Requests. Orders cancelled after payment is processed are subject to a restocking fee of 10% of the order total or $10, whichever is greater. This fee covers administrative costs, payment processing fees, and restocking inventory.
How to Cancel: Contact us immediately at hello@bittersandbottles.com with your order number. Cancellations are only honored if the order has not yet shipped.
Orders Already Shipped. Once an order has shipped, it cannot be cancelled. If you refuse delivery or the package is returned, return shipping fees apply (see below).
Returns and Return Fees
Return Policy. Due to the nature of alcoholic beverages and regulatory requirements, returns are only accepted for:
- Damaged products (with photographic evidence within 48 hours of delivery)
- Incorrect items shipped (our error)
- Defective or spoiled products
Returned Shipment Fee. A returned shipment fee of $40 or 20% of the order total (whichever is greater) will be charged if a shipment is returned to us for any of the following reasons:
- Refusal of delivery
- Failure to provide adult signature after multiple delivery attempts
- Recipient unavailable and package unclaimed
- Incorrect address provided by customer
- Customer-requested address change that results in return
- Any other customer-caused return
Fee Deduction. Return shipping fees will be deducted from your refund or charged to your original payment method.
Refunds for Returns
Refund Calculation. If a shipment is returned and a refund is issued, it will be calculated as:
Original order total
MINUS California sales tax (non-refundable)
MINUS original shipping charges (non-refundable)
MINUS returned shipment fee
MINUS restocking fee (if applicable)
MINUS any carrier fees or surcharges
Processing Time. Refunds are processed within 5-10 business days of receiving and inspecting the returned shipment. Refunds are issued to the original payment method.
Damaged Returns. If products are returned damaged or unsellable due to circumstances beyond our control, we may reduce the refund amount proportionally or deny the refund.
Damaged or Missing Items
Report Immediately. Inspect your order upon delivery. If you notice damage or missing items:
- Note damage on the delivery receipt
- Photograph damaged packaging and products
- Contact us within 48 hours at hello@bittersandbottles.com
- Provide your order number, photos, and description
Claims Deadline. Claims for damaged or missing items must be submitted within 48 hours of delivery. Claims after this period may not be honored.
Shipping Restrictions
Geographic Limitations. We only ship to addresses in states where we are legally permitted to do so and where carriers will deliver alcoholic beverages. Shipping availability is subject to change based on regulatory requirements.
Cannot Ship To:
- P.O. Boxes
- APO/FPO/military addresses
- Locations where adult signature delivery is not possible
Limitations of Liability
Carrier Performance. We are not liable for delays, damage, or loss caused by carriers, severe weather, natural disasters, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Regulatory Changes. We reserve the right to cancel orders or suspend shipments if regulatory or carrier policy changes make fulfillment impossible.
Maximum Liability. Our maximum liability for any shipping-related issue shall not exceed the purchase price of the affected products.
