Tequila Ocho's Huichol Art Collection — and Why the Bottle Is the Least Interesting Thing About It
Tequila Ocho makes some of the most terroir-driven agave spirits on the market. Every expression is 100% Blue Weber agave from a single named estate in Jalisco's Los Altos highlands, vintage-dated, additive-free, and produced at NOM 1474 — Tequilera Los Alambiques — with natural yeast and no shortcuts. Once an estate is harvested, Ocho doesn't return for ten years, which means every bottle is a fixed point in time.
The Huichol Art series adds another layer: each bottle is hand-adorned with beadwork and yarn by Wixárika (Huichol) artisans, a sacred visual tradition that represents prayers, visions, and ancestral connections to nature. The result is a functional art object that also happens to be serious tequila. We're currently stocking the Huichol Art Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo alongside three expressions from Ocho's core single-estate lineup — including a 101-proof barrel-proof Reposado that's worth your immediate attention.

Ocho 'Huichol Art' Blanco TequilaFrom the Tierras Negras estate, bottled unaged and without additives — pure agave, water, and natural yeast. The nose is sweetly floral with extra-ripe agave and candied fruit. The palate delivers bright citrus, cinnamon, dried fruit, and almond, finishing on spearmint. Intense, concentrated, and honest. Each bottle is individually hand-beaded by Wixárika artisans; no two are identical. Once Tierras Negras is harvested, Ocho won't return for a decade. Limited Release Shop → |

Ocho Single Estate Barrel Proof Reposado — 101 ProofAged 4–6 months in overused American whiskey barrels, then bottled at 101 proof without dilution. "Overused" is deliberate — Ocho wants oak influence, not oak domination, so the agave still leads. At full proof the palate opens with a pop of bright agave, then baking spices, dark chocolate, caramel, and white pepper. The floral and mineral signature Ocho is known for survives the extra intensity. This is Ocho's Reposado with the volume turned up. 101 Proof Shop → |

Ocho 'Huichol Art' Añejo TequilaFrom the San Jeronimo estate, aged in oak long enough to develop real barrel character without burying the agave underneath it. Butterscotch and toasted marshmallow on the nose, with peanut brittle and oak spice. The palate is rich — caramel, rye spice, roasted nuts — finishing on stewed apples, aged malt, and a white pepper kick. Concentrated and complex but still easy to drink. Hand-beaded Wixárika bottle, same limited-harvest logic as the rest of the Huichol Art range. Limited Release Shop → |
