If you've been to Havana, it's a good bet you've had a drink or three at the truly grand Hotel Nacional, an icon of the city. The hotel's signature drink from it's opening in 1930 was a Daiquiri with pineapple juice and apricot brandy, a sumptuously fruity affair. Our take cuts the juice in favor of pineapple gum syrup as the sweetener, with the divine Blume Marillen eau-de-vie elevating the Apricot slot. A dash of Angostura rounds it all out, and Probitas white rum lends the necessary oomph to not simply get buried by all the fruity excitment.
