Named after a baptist preacher who was among the first to age American whiskey in charred oak, Elijah Craig is a small batch offering from Heaven Hill made from their standard bourbon mash of 78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% malted barley. Bottled at 94 proof, Elijah Craig greets the nose with a strong, sweet fragrance of wood and spice. A sip reveals butterscotch candy flavors echoed by some oak, caramel, and vanilla. Mellow, long finish with a touch of herbs and anise.
