Port Askaig 110 Proof Islay Single Malt Scotch

Port Askaig is an independently bottled Islay single malt from an undisclosed distillery (heavily rumored to be the distillery nearest the Northeastern Islay port).  The 110 Proof bottling is a USA exclusive.  The nose presents scents of briny seawater, smoked fish, and creamy coconut along with medicinal herbs and light citrus fruit.  The palate shows a unique creaminess that allows the whisky to drink well below its proof point.  Sipping brings flavors of candied pineapple, citrus fruit, smoked meat, peppercorn, and herbal peat.  On the finish, citrus fruit lingers and is joined by pineapple, menthol, and ash.
