Bull Run 7 Year Nocino Finish Rye Whiskey

After seven years of patient maturation in American oak, Bull Run subjects this MGP (Indiana) distilled rye to a secondary finish in nocino casks, imparting layers of walnut, spice, and herbal complexity that transform the spirit into something altogether unique. The appearance is a rich amber-brown with hints of mahogany, like Ron Burgundy's library in liquid form.

The nose opens with the expected spice-forward character of aged rye, like black pepper, cinnamon, and oak, complemented by the distinctive aromatic contribution of the nocino finish: warm walnut, toasted hazelnut, and subtle herbal notes reminiscent of amaro. There's an intriguing interplay between rye's inherent spice and the warming nuttiness imparted by the nocino cask. The palate is complex and well-balanced, with bold rye spice and oak providing structure for the nocino character to emerge gracefully.
