Longrow 21 Year Peated Limited Release Single Malt Scotch

First distilled in 1973, Longrow is the heavily peated, twice-distilled single malt from Springbank distillery, one of three produced there. Less than 150 barrels of Longrow are filled each year.  The 2022 release of Longrow 21 features 60% of the vatting finished in ex-sherry casks with 30% in ex-bourbon barrels and 10% finished in ex-Chardonnay casks bottled without chill filtration or color added at 92 proof. 

The signature Springbank industrial funk is apparent immediately upon nosing, with notes of diesel fumes, machine oil, and wet earth accompanied by blackberries and a hint of toasted marshmallow.  The sip begins with rich blackberries and plums before flavors turn to greasy bacon and toasted nuts.  The finish is long, sweet, and smokey, with notes of creme brulee, wood smoke, and tannic red wine.
