Product details
Bill McCoy was the pioneer rum runner of the Prohibition era who became a household name for selling only the best quality unadulterated spirits, known as "The Real McCoy." In McCoy's Prohibition Tradition, these multi-award winning rums are unadulterated - with no added sugars or perfumes. Crafted by 4th generation master distiller Richard Seale of Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados using only the finest blackstrap molasses and pure spring water. The rums are single-distilled in a combination of column and double retort pot stills, then aged in heavy char American oak ex-bourbon barrels.
The 5 Year expression is soft, smooth, well-balanced, with a luxurious texture. Flavors of caramel, toasted almond, buttery cinnamon, and bourbon-aged oak. Finishes with lingering toasted coconut and hint of tobacco. Bottled at 46% abv.

I really like this rum. I tend to love the smoother, more spicy and vanilla-y rums and this one is definitely that. My bourbon-loving husband loves this with coca-cola, if that helps. 😁
This has risen to top as my favorite everyday rum. Smooth and delicious this rummy rum is inexpensive enough that I don't feel bad enjoying a glass each day. It works well in mixed drinks but I tend to enjoy it neat. Added bonus that it doesn't have any added sugar or flavors. I do my best to always have a bottle on hand.
Surprisingly great! Then again, it was made by Foursquare, so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised. I'm generally skeptical of rums that clock in at 40% though, and 5 years is a little young. But hot damn, this is delicious stuff! Has both the tropical fruit and baking spice notes you'd want, and since it's only 80 proof, it goes down super duper smooth. I get cinnamon, honey, toffee, banana, mango... Bought this for cocktails (and it's great in recipes that call for gold rum, whatever that is), but I've ended up pouring most of it neat. I feel a little silly for waiting so long to try this, but I'll definitely be keeping it stocked at home going forward.
