Trail’s End 10 is the Second whiskey collaboration between Hood River Distillers, the oldest distillery in Oregon, and the expert team at Clear Creek Distillery, the second-oldest distillery in Oregon. It comes from a select few barrels of 10-year Kentucky Bourbon that are then further aged in local toasted Garryana oak in Oregon before being proofed down slightly to 52.5% abv with glacier-fed spring water from Mt. Hood.
On the nose you'll find aromas of vanilla, caramel, and cherry, with warm summer pine at the end. On the palate there is caramel, vanilla, cherry, and roasted corn with a foundation of warm, earthy notes of pine forest and high desert moss. Bitter orange and delicate hints of lilac are hidden beneath the vanilla and oak.

News flash: this is 10-year-old KSBW (most likely either Barton or Heaven Hill), finished in Oregon oak. This is delicious whiskey! Cherry pie and confectionary sugar and some ethanol on the nose. The palate is full of vanilla and berries, and not over-dessert like some other secondary toasted oak finished bourbons. I'm going to pick up another bottle, cuz at $60 this is a steal.
I was expecting more from this bourbon and was ultimately disappointed. This is older and at a higher proof than their previously released bourbon which is 90 proof and 8 years old, which is also finished with Oregon Oak Staves. However, this came off as less unique and more astringent. This is a decent bourbon but I would save 20 bucks and get Trail Head's other bourbon.
