Woodinville Straight Bourbon

I was introduced to Woodinville with a bottle of the Barrel Select. It was a fine drink--very smooth considering its high alcohol content. When that wasn't available anymore, I tried the Straight Bourbon, and this is my second bottle of it. Buffalo Trace is still my favorite bourbon, given it's great flavor and price, but I like this Woodinville for a change of pace. Give it a try.

I detected hints of caramel in the nose. At 90 proof, the spiciness is prevalent, but the sweetness offsets the heat. It doesn’t have the viscous mouthfeel that coats your mouth, instead it’s lighter, like a Scotch whiskey. Overall, it’s a nice Bourbon.

This bourbon truly hits all of the perfect marks. Great taste and finish for a 6 year old whiskey. I would be hard pressed to tell this wasn't made in Kentucky! Best in the West.

He tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago while on a business trip in Washington state and loved it. You should have seen his face when he opened the box this morning. Well, he did wait till a more appropriate time to open the bottle. ,-)

This is definitely a value at the current cost. Bold on the first sip then slowly develops into a creamy finish. Definitely some strong wood flavors here in first sip. I’m not great with tasting notes, but I definitely get dark chocolate and vanilla here. Take your time and sip slowly. This opens up and the experience develops over time. I’m glad Brian recommended it!
