Read nowHeaven Hill is the last major Kentucky distillery still run as an independent and family-owned business. They've filled over 7 million barrels of bourbon since prohibition, and right this second they have 1,000,000 barrels of whiskey aging at their facility. They say this accounts for over 17% of the world's future supply of Bourbon. If the small craft distilleries are the new friends that lend variety and give the spice of life, then Heaven Hill is Mom and Dad; they've always been cool even if you didn't know it, will always be there, and you appreciate them more with age.

The one rum to rule them all, from our resident tiki expert
Read nowLocked in the Svalbard Global Seed Vault are copies of nearly every known plant seed on earth. If anything were to happen where we would run out or lose a certain crop or plant, the Seed Vault has a back up.
I think it’s high time they added a bottle of Mount Gay rum to the vault for safekeeping. That way if we ever run out of rum (oh please tell me that can never happen) we can always reach for a copy of the original.

Transform these 18 cocktails with one spicy addition (hint: it’s a bitter)
Bitters are intimidating as hell. I mean, we get overwhelmed when 24 types of jam are put in front of us – and everyone knows what to do with jam. So what to do?Read now -

Mosswood Batch #4: Not to be Missed Newest Tasty Limited Edition Local Whiskey
Read nowWe've spent 4 years trying thousands of spirits as we've curated our shop's collection of delicious spirits. In that time, we've fallen in love more than a few times.
Sometimes the relationship is situational, great for good time party but maybe not our Sunday night sweatpants Netflix and chill date. Then sometimes we find producers who we think of as the always there for you best friend: safe yet fun to introduce to Mom and Dad, but also a great companion for a night out or in. The perfect partner that's been hiding in plain sight (we've watched a lot of rom-coms lately, clearly).

Make a hogo-licious Appleton Rum Jungle Bird & Pineapple Negroni
Jamaican Rum is the classic example of hogo, a term derived from a French phrase describing slightly decayed meat, "haut gout". Hogo represents a highly aromatic and heavier style of rum brimming with molasses, fruit, and funk. The name is inspired by the overripe, strong flavor and smell of that funky fruit, like an old banana whose aroma has intensified and concentrated. Counting 265 years of history and the lion’s share of the local market, the J. Wray & Nephew distillery is the hometown favorite. Its J. Wray and Appleton branded Rums offer options from affordable to super-premium, for cocktailers and connoisseurs alike.Read now
