Brucato Woodlands Amaro

I used to really like this amaro. Very chocolately. Such a great idea and combo of sweet and bitter. I used it in cocktails and on its own. Then suddenly the next time we got it, it was really bitter. And the next. Even in drinks it was too bitter. Please bring it back to being balanced.

Makes a delicious Black Manhattan.

Looking for a new Black Manhattan amaro, I was won over by the flavor profile description, which did not disappoint. Neighborhood concurred this made our favorite Black Manhattan yet.

This amaro is a delightful "secret ingredient" to any whiskey cocktail. I bought it on a whim as a rec from BandB and made the Dark Manhattan recipe from the product's website. My BF was very satisfied with the drink and had a second one. This is an enjoyable amaro for people who like complexity without over sweet/bitter profiles. I can't wait to experiment with more recipes.

To be honest, I didn’t really read the flavor profile of this amaro, but I have other bottles from this brand that I enjoy. The color is a plummy purple, and the scent is like a chocolatey raisiny pipe tobacco. The taste is smooth and deep, carrying over that chocolate raisin. I have been enjoying this on the rocks after dinner as a nightcap.

I've had all 3 Brucato Amari and this is easily my favorite. I mostly use brown spirit cocktails when I mix drinks, so the dark herbal, and cacao notes in Woodlands stands up to straight American style whiskies. However, I love making a boulevardier using a malt whiskey, red vermouth, and this!

I am relishing this amaro, purchased on a whim. Now, I need to try the others.

I am still attempting it with various cocktails.. I have not given up on it yet!
