Product details
Peat lovers rejoice with each of Bruichladdich's yearly releases of Octomore, one of the most heavily peated* malt whiskies available. The 16.2 release is distilled from Concerto barley grown on Scotland's mainland and peated to 101.4 ppm. Aged for five years, 16.2 was matured for four years in Oloroso Sherry and Bordeaux Wine casks before spending a final year finishing in Madeira and Moscatel casks. It was then bottled without chill filtration or color added at 116.2 proof. The nose is rich and jammy with dates, raisins, fig, and honey with just a bit of earthy peat. On the palate, red and tropical fruit lead with praline, nougat, and some earthy smoke behind. The smoke ramps up on a long finish and is joined by grilled fruits, caramel, and a touch of pepper spice.
