A long respected independent bottler of Scotch, Cadenhead has revived its historic 7 Stars blend. The modern 7 Stars is made from a blend of malt and grain whiskies from all over Scotland. Aged at least 30 years and married in Oloroso sherry casks the blend is bottled without chill filtration or added color at a natural cask strength of 86.4 proof. The sherry influence pops on the nose, with scents of cola, raisin, and fig. Underneath the sherry lies some characteristic Campbeltown musty earth and a faint wisp of smoke. The palate opens with some bright grain notes which quickly transition to dark fruit, waxy cocoa, and nutty sherry. The finish lingers pleasantly, with flavors of chocolate covered cherries and a touch of spice.
