Best balanced triple sec for Margaritas: Cointreau a bit too syrupy, Grand Marnier too much cognac override, Dry Curacao gets lost (better for other drinks where you need just a hint of orange).
You should try it!
Tastes like an orange tic tac. Makes a considerably worse cocktail than Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao. This is true even for cocktails like the Sidecar or Cosmo that specifically call for Triple Sec over Curacao. Combier is certainly better than low-end Triple Secs, and tastes very similar to Cointreau, which I think is worth 3 stars.
I've used this for years in Margaritas, both tequila and mezcal based, to rave reviews. It's sweet enough to counterbalance the fresh lime, with enough bright orange flavor to come through. Not overly sweet like Cointreau or brandy based like Grand Marnier. It's hard to find, so stock up.
