Incredibly floral aromas encapsulate tropical fruit and some earthier elements in the nose. It opens up sweet in the mouth, with brown sugar-crusted peach and star fruit. Flavors of green plantain are strong throughout the baking spice flecked finish.
- Really versatile for how much character it has. And great on its own as well!
- It's just a really elegant blend! Haven't had anything quite like it. Very fun!
- It blends well with other rums or alone in cocktails. Will buy again for sure!

Predominantly toffee-forward, with notes of dark fruit and spice, and just a subtle undertone of vegetal flavor. This is my go-to for Jungle Birds and Queens Park Swizzles. It can be used pretty much anywhere either demerara rum or black blended rum is called for. Really versatile for how much character it has. And great on its own as well! This bottle has a permanent place on my shelf and has been one of my most used bottles for the past year.
I have really enjoyed this rum in cocktails, filling the role as a flavourful dark rum, or where looking to insert something extra into the profile of a drink.
This is 80% demerara and 20% agricole rhum. I've seen people say it tastes exclusively of demerara, and others say that the agricole flavor dominates. Depending on my mood, the number of drinks I've had previously, the position of the stars in the sky, whatever, I go back and forth about what it tastes like. But I think the conclusion I've slowly come around to is that it's just a really elegant blend! I wouldn't peg agricole as a natural complement to demerara, but it somehow works here. It helps to play up the more understated flavors you might otherwise miss out on. Demerara rums are usually all "bass", but the agricole really cranks up the treble. You could definitely sub this in for a standard demerara (not so much with agricole), but honestly, this seems like a new category of rum. Haven't had anything quite like it. Very fun!
I'm a big fan of the Denizen Merchant's Reserve rum so I was excited to try this blend of Demerara and Martinique rums. It's fantastic! I'm not usually a fan of Demerara rum in a Mai Tai, but this Vatted Dark makes for an absolutely fantastic Mai Tai. The extra ABV helps punch through the flavors in many other tiki cocktails, too. It's really great. Give it a try.
Now with flavor, balance and more
I have used this rum in Mai Tai and Navy Grogs, it blends well with other rums or alone in cocktails. will buy again for sure. Easy purchase process and fast shipping too!
