Doctor Bird Private Barrel Cask Strength (119 Proof) Madeira Finish Rum

This B&B exclusive barrel of Doctor Bird is everything we love about the cult favorite Jamaican rum, but MORE. More intensity from being bottled uncut at cask strength, more distinct character being a single barrel, and more depth and elegance being aged in Portuguese Madeira casks in place of the usual bright and bubbly Moscatel casks. It begins with a blend of unaged high ester and aged medium ester rums from the Worthy Park Estate, undergoes a secondary finish in Madeira casks, then is bottled at full cask strength (119 proof) without dilution or filtration. 

The nose is commanding and complex, with bold Jamaican rum character of tropical fruit, funky notes, and warming spice, beautifully complemented by the Madeira finish: dried fruit, caramel, hints of nuts, and subtle floral character. Notes of vanilla, oak, and hints of leather are interwoven with the distinctive elegantly nutty Madeira influence, like putting a dinner jacket on a lion. The palate is powerful yet remarkably well-integrated, with the 119 proof delivering full intensity while the Madeira finish adds layers of wine-influenced complexity. Notes of cocoa, toasted nuts, dried cherry, and hints of leather emerging gradually alongside warming spice and oak character. The finish is impressively long and warming, with persistent fruit, nuts, spice, and wine influence.
