Drumshanbo Single Pot Irish Whiskey is the first Irish whiskey to come out of Connacht, a western province, in over 105 years. It’s distilled by hand at the Shed Distillery of PJ Rigney from a blend of malted Irish barley, un-malted Irish barley and Irish barra oats. This whiskey was aged five years in first use ex-Kentucky Bourbon and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks and was bottled at 43% alcohol by volume.
On the nose, you'll find toasted nuts, vanilla honey, and toffee notes accompanied by sweet dried fruit. The palate follows with lovely winter spice, redcurrant, and coconut, which shifts elegantly to deeper notes of dark chocolate, almond, and oak. A creamy, full bodied mouthfeel with unexpected depths.
