Maclean's Nose Blended Scotch
From Independent Bottler Adelphi Spirits comes this new blended Scotch with an unusually high share of malt whisky in the blend (70% malt to 30% grain). Although the components of the blend are unconfirmed, it likely includes both peated and unpeated Highland malt (likely from Adelphi-owned Ardnamurchan), a bit of Campbeltown malt (thought to be from Glen Scotia), and a lowland grain whisky. The blend is bottled at 86 proof without chill filtration or added color.
Maclean's Nose's nose offers scents of caramel, citrus, bonfire smoke, and light peppery spice. The palate features flavors of toasted marshmallow, honey, citrus fruit, dark cherry, and chocolate before an interesting finish featuring smoke, sweet fruit, and a hint of peaty iodine. With a complexity and depth that punches well above its price point, this is a blended Scotch that will please even single malt snobs.
