Minor Case Sherry Cask Finished Rye

From Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, KY, Minor Case is named for Minor Case Beam, the great-grandfather of Limestone founders Steve and Paul Beam.  They source a high-corn rye whiskey (51% rye, 45% corn, 4% malted barley) from MGP in Indiana and finish it in Cream Sherry casks from Meier's Winery.  The sherry finish is apparent on the nose which has scents of orchard fruits and summer flowers over a base of rye spice.  The palate likewise opens with sweet fruit, followed by caramel, cinnamon, and pepper.   The finish is light, with sweet and spice well balanced.
