For the 2022 Cask Strength Release, Writers Tears combines thrice distilled single pot still and single malt whisky. The blend is aged in used American Oak bourbon barrels and bottled without chill filtration or color added at a robust 109.2 proof. The nose offers sweet scents of wildflower honey, caramel cream and butterscotch. On sipping, the whisky opens with notes of honey and butterscotch before flavors of cinnamon and hazelnut join on the mid palate. The finish is long on sweet, toasty oak with a bit of ginger in the background.
