Hamilton 10 Year Copper Pot Still Single Cask Jamaican Rum (68.2% ABV / 136.4 Proof) is an ultra-rare, high-proof independent bottling curated by legendary rum authority Ed Hamilton. Distilled in May 2011 on a magnificent copper pot still at the historic Clarendon Estate in Jamaica, this single-cask release represents an uncompromising showcase of heavy Jamaican hogo (high-ester funk). The spirit underwent a complex split-aging process, maturing for six years in the intense, tropical climate of Jamaica inside used bourbon and whiskey barrels, before being transferred to Europe in 2019 to age continentally for an additional two years. Bottled in August 2021 entirely at cask strength with zero added sugar, flavorings, or coloring, it is non-chill filtered to preserve its viscous texture and deep, natural oils. The nose delivers an explosive, ester-rich bouquet of overripe banana, dark molasses, raisins, and burnt caramel. On the dense and oily palate, these notes transition into a powerhouse flavor profile of anise, caramelized tropical fruits, and raw sugarcane, before settling into a long, warming finish with lingering traces of smoky oak and earthy vegetal complexity.
