Tobermory 12 Year Single Malt Scotch
Released in early 2019, this 12 year old single malt from the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull was launched in celebration of the distillery returning to life after a brief two year break, and replaces their previous 10 year expression. It aged in ex-bourbon casks before being bottled at 46.3% ABV, without chill-filtration or added color.
The nose is friendly, fruity, and expressive, with notes of pear, peach and apple, and a dusting of brown sugar. Also yogurt, barley and a hint of cinnamon pastries. Smells like a pastoral Scottish daydream. The palate shows more malted barley sugars, lush stone fruit, fudge, and cookie dough, all washed in slightly salty maritime air, and with an oily fullness rare in 12 year old whiskies. The finish is delicate but long, with citrus peel, a slight tingle of oak spice, toffee, and salted caramel.
