Smoke signals you to the bar: 3 bottles and a playlist to fan your flames for smoke and Baby Driver
Inspired by Baby Driver, we put a playlist together for this Thursday's smoke tasting. We choose fast, but sip slow.
Pop in your ear buds, and put your car in drive; straight to 240 Grand Ave.
Playlist and tasting notes for Thursday's lineup below.
DeepPurple - Smoke on the Water (couldn't not)
Iron & Wine - Cinder and Smoke
Barbara Streisand - Smoke Gets in Your Eyes
Rilo Kiley - Smoke Detector
Carrie Underwood - Smoke Break
Kacey Musgraves - Blowin' Smoke
Gotye - Smoke & Mirrors
The playlist got you in the door, now here's the haul:
Tosba Espadin Mezcal, 51.50
Made with 10 year old agave this has a scent of toasted nut, cinnamon, and cooked agave. Round and complex on the palate, with a generous sweetness that’s balanced by some lightly acidic citrus and a little smoke and ash.
Wahaka Reposado Con Gusano Mezcal, 45.50
Aged up to six months in re-charred American oak barrels, this is the epitome of smooth with its light golden color and lustrous flavor. This expression is enhanced with the addition of an agave worm, which is said to balance the spirit with notes of earth and salt.
Del Bac Dorado Single Malt Whiskey, $54.50
A gorgeous American single malt smoked with Mesquite that adds sweet, velvety smoke flavors. Nothing like a peated scotch, more like walking into your favorite bar-b-que joint that's been there for decades. Sweet tobacco and dark chocolate on the nose, underpinned by sandalwood, desert campfire and spice notes.
