Nikka Discovery The Grain Japanese Whisky
For the final edition of its Discovery Series, Nikka has turned its attention to grain. This unique release features a blend of seven different whiskies distilled at four different distilleries owned and operated by Nikka, and includes whisky that is 34 years old! The nose opens fresh and fruity with the scent of a blooming orchard backed by honey and vanilla. The palate is creamy with almond milk and vanilla flavors opening the sip, followed by citrus and soft cinnamon. The finish brings cereal sweetness complimented by dark chocolate and sweet oak,.
The components of the blend are: a Coffey grain (corn) from Miyagikyo, a Coffey malt from Miyagikyo (barley), a Coffey grain (corn) distilled in 1988 at Nishinomiya, a Coffey malt (barley) distilled in 1988 at Nishinomiya, an unmalted pot still barley whisky from Moji, an unmalted pot still barley whisky from Satsuma Tsukasa, and a corn, rye, and barley pot still whisky from Satsuma Tsukasa.
