Thanks to its balance of cinnamon, anise, and honey, High West Double Rye stands on its own in cocktails, but is great served neat, with a little water, or on the rocks. Its spirited flavor fortifies classic cocktails like the Manhattan and Old Fashioned. Double Rye! is a blend of two different rye whiskeys. It is also crafted to be twice as spicy (think cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves) as your average rye whiskey. The blend of straight Rye whiskeys range in age from 2 to 7 years.
Nose: Mint, clove, cinnamon, licorice root, pine nuts, and dark chocolate, with a surprising dose of gin botanicals throughout
Taste: Rye spices up front, then menthol, mint, eucalyptus, herbal tea with wildflower honey and all spice
Finish: Cinnamon and mint, gradually sweetening through the finish, with a hint of anise

Good neat, on a rock, or other spirit-forward cocktail. I like to keep this in stock in my home bar.
One of my go-to ryes at this price point.
This rye makes an excellent classic Manhattan using Carpano Antica and Angostura bitters (my favorite recipe is 2oz spirit to 1oz carpano, just a couple squirts of bitters. Remember nothing is worse than an over-bittered Manhattan!)

Great spice without giving up on sweetness, and at the same time its rich with a good mouthfeel, not super common at this price point. This is great on its own or mixed into an old fashioned.
Do yourself a favor....push the Buy Button now...so good. High West has an unbelievable skill of finishing and blending. We in America should be proud we have a company who is building flavors as good and consistent as High West. This is so big, so smooth, so buttery and sweet, while having that. Ice rye spice in the finish. As to other High West blends, I have had three so far, and am blown away. Translation...if you see a High West bottle you should buy it, because that would be smart, and you, want, to be smart.... drink it neat people!
If you like spicy ryes, this is a great buy! Can be sipped but goes really well in a cocktail.
