Method and Madness is the experimental microdistillery located at Midleton Distillery where Irish whiskey brands like Jameson and Redbreast among many others are produced. This Single Grain whiskey was initially laid down in ex-bourbon barrels before aging an additional year in virgin Spanish oak, a rarity in malt whiskey, if not a first.
On the nose, there are pencil shavings, light rose petal, and fresh rain on pine. The palate hits with warm toasted oak, fresh grapefruit peel, and zesty wood spice. The finish follows with clove, sweet cereal grain, and mint. Bottled at 46% abv without chill filtration or added color.
