Method and Madness is the experimental microdistillery located at Midleton Distillery where Irish whiskey brands like Jameson and Redbreast among many others are produced. This Method and Madness Single Grain was aged in first-fill bourbon barrels before being finished for 12 months in virgin Spanish oak. Bottled at 92 proof and non-chill filtered.
The nose is quite light, delicate and floral with cupcake icing, vanilla, sandalwood and toffee bonbons. The palate is richer and warm, bringing aromas of oak, toasted bread, candied orange slices, honey and a full array of sweet and hotter spices. A short and spicy aftermath with drier notes follows. A very interesting single grain released as interest in this category of whiskey continues to rise.
