Pajarote Ponche de Tamarindo Liqueur

I bought this bottle thinking that it would be a fun way to add tamarind flavor to cocktails. In actuality, it's not especially good at that. It's not super sweet, and the tamarind flavor is definitely there, but not as pronounced that I would have assumed. The texture is kind of thin and watery, with lots of tamarind seed material mixed in for some grit.

So far, sounds not so good, but there is a bright side! The ponche is pretty low abv, and the texture is rather fun. If you use in larger quantities, as the base of a cocktail or on its own, it's pretty delicious! It's refreshing and the texture makes it feel like you ground up the tamarind yourself. Mix it with some tequila and dial up the sweetness and sourness and you have a great margarita.
